Alfredo Ibarra
Alfredo Ibarra was born in Mexico City, and is
already regarded as one of Mexicos leading conductors. Ibarra studied with Istvan
Horvath at the National Conservatory in his home city, then at the Maastricht
Conservatory. He studied further with Sergiu Celibidache in Munich. He has not only
conducted all the main symphony orchestras in Mexico, but many of the main European
orchestras. He is at present the principal conductor of the Michoacan Symphony Orchestra
and the Durango Symphony Orchestra in Mexico. Critics have called him a young
firebrand with great magnetism and sureness of touch.
