Tomas Bächli - Piano
Tomas Bächli, born in Zurich
(Switzerland) in 1958, lives in Berlin, Germany as a concert pianist and piano teacher.
From 1996 to 1998 he lived in New York where he was curator of the music program of the
Swiss Institute for the year 1998. Since 1999 he is living in Berlin. While not ignoring
former periods, Bächli concentrates on twentieth century music. Together with Gertrud
Schneider, he has a piano duo performing quarter tone music and music in just intonation.
They can be heared on the CD "Bridge" (hatART) with piano works by James Tenney.
He champions neglected composers such as the legendary Jean Barraqué, the unknown
German-Jewish exilee Erich Itor Kahn and the Russian futurists of the twenties.
