Recent TV appearances include a profile programme in Italy and a full recital during her tour of the Caribbean. A world authority on Olivier Messiaen, Channel 4 televised her British première of his last work from Westminster Cathedral, and La Nativité from the Norwich International Festival, both live. She was consultant and performer on the South Bank Show about him. Jennifers distinguished discography ranges from the eighteenth century to the latest virtuoso scores. Her complete Messiaen won many awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason dOr (France), Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik (Germany) and Record of the Year (Sunday Times). Equally successful was her 6-CD series From Stanley to Wesley on period instruments, which won the MRA award for early music, and Critics Choice (UK). The compositions on this CD span 25 years. Some were written while on tour, and most were requested by colleagues and friends, so there is an autobiographical aspect to the collection which inspired the title. The beautiful painting on the front cover is one of several she owns by her friend, John Horder. Jennifer studied composition with Eric Thiman 1961/2, and it formed a major part of her B.A. (Hons.) degree course at Bristol University. Jennifer Bate on Guild Music
