Herrera de la Fuente
Described as
the "Dean of Latin Conductors" and now in his 8th decade Herrera de la Fuente
has been described as the "Mexican Furtwangler". A pupil of Hermann Scherchen,
Herrera de la Fuente has directed most of the major orchestras in Latin America and other
world famous orchestras including the Leningrad Philharmonic. He has been principal
conductor of the national orchestras of Mexico, Chile and Peru. For many years Herrera de
la Fuente was also principal conductor of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, the
Xalapa Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico.In the world of
the gramophone he has made numerous award-winning.
