Robert Howarth - Organ

Robert Howarth studied music at the University of York. Upon graduating he won the Music Department Prize for his outstanding musical contribution. Whilst in York he established himself as the regular continuo player for the Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, under the direction of Peter Seymour.

As a continuo specialist he has played with many of the worldıs leading early music ensembles such as the New London Consort, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, His Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts, The English Baroque Soloists, Concordia, and under the direction of  Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Sir Charles Mackerras, Paul McCreesh, Rene Jacobs, Philip Pickett and Ivor Bolton.

His work in Opera has now taken him to Salzburg Festival, Florenceıs Maggio Musicale, Hamburg and the Munich Opera House. He made his conducting debut in May 2002 at the Hambrug State Opera in performances of Handelıs Alcina.

Gareth obtained a first-class honours degree in music from Southampton University, where he was also awarded the Peter Evans prize for outstanding performance.  He then completed a post-graduate course at the Guildhall School of Music, where he studied baroque cello with
Anthony Pleeth.  He has recorded for television, radio and on compact disc and has performed extensively throughout Europe.  He has played principal cello for La Serenissima, Classical Opera Company, Cambridge Baroque Camerata, The Avison Ensemble, Charivari Agreable and The Galeazzi Ensemble.
