Christos Kanettis - Violin


Violinist Christos Kanettis was born in 1960 in Salonica, Greece. He studied at the Athens Conservatory with Ismini Carter, the Vienna Music-University with Franz Samohyl and at the Julliard School with Dorothy DeLay. He participated in master classes with Josef Gingold, Sando Vegh and Ithzak Perlman. His début in 1986 at the Carnegie Recital Hall was reviewed by the New York Times; “His interpretation reflected variety, precision and a strong sense of purpose……the lyrical sound came often in contrast with his powerful stage appearance”. He has had an extensive concert career as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in Europe, Canada, USA and Mexico. He is a US citizen and lives in Innsbruck, Austria, since 1996 where he holds teaching positions at the “Mozarteum” University in Salzburg and at the State Conservatory, Innsbruck.
