Elizabeth Franklin-Kitchen - Soprano II

Elizabeth Franklin-Kitchen was born in 1975 and trained at the Royal Academy of Music under Julie Kennard and Anthony Saunders.  She continues to study with Kennard and also with tenor John Mark Ainsley.

A full-time member of the professional octet at St Bartholomew the Great, Smithfield (David Trendell), Elizabeth also appears frequently as a soloist with the choir of St Mary’s, Nottingham.  She is a founder member of the renaissance octet Chapelle du Roi (Alistair Dixon), with whom she has toured the UK, Europe and the USA and with whom she regularly records.  She has performed with The BBC Singers (Stephen Cleobury), The Oxford Camerata (Jeremy Summerly), The Geoffrey Mitchell Choir (Geoffrey Mitchell), The Curate’s Egg (Adey Grummet), The Clerks’ Group (Edward Wickham) and as a soloist with Schola Cantorum of Oxford (Mark Shepherd).  She appears regularly with The BBC Singers (Stephen Cleobury), with whom she has taken part in several BBC Proms, and has recently recorded a CD of the music of Judith Bingham

Solo roles include Albinoni’s Magnificat and Stabat Mater, Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passions and B Minor Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation and The Seasons, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Puccini’s La Boheme and Verdi’s Requiem.

September 2002 sees Elizabeth at the beginning of her Masters course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  Forthcoming engagements include a series of concerts in Oxford with The Favoriti Consort, with whom she will travel in 2003 to America to give a series of workshops and recitals.  She also looks forward to returning to her home city in Easter 2003, where she will make
