Tamriko Kordzaia - piano

In her homeland Georgia Tamriko Kordzaia had already made a name for herself as an interpreter of Haydn and Mozart; after her move to Switzerland she continued this occupation; there was, however, an increasing focus on the new music, especially that of the younger generation of composers. That this is not necessarily a contradiction is shown by her solo programmes, in which apparently the incompatible meet again and again; there is classical Viennese next to premières, Messianic next to post minimalist trash compositions or works by musicians from the rock and techno scene.

Her occupation with Christoph Delz’ piano work, in which the incommensurable clash abruptly in the same way, therefore suggested itself.

Tamriko Kordzaia studied in Tbilisi with Nana Tschikwaidse, Nodar Gabunia and Nana Chubutia, in Switzerland with Homero Francesch and Hans-Jürg Strub. She received numerous national and international awards, among them the first prize and the Mozart prize at the International Sakai Competition in Osaka.

Tamriko Kordzaia devotes herself exclusively to the latest music in a piano duet with Dominik Blum (Steamboat Switzerland); apart from that, she has become active as an imparter of current music in Georgia.
