Andrzej KowalskiThe violinist Andrzej Kowalski is the leader of the St Gallen Symphony Orchestra. He was born in Warsaw in Poland and has been playing the violin from a very early age. In 1969 he graduated with honours from the Warsaw Conservatoire. While still a student he became a member of the Warsaw National Philharmonic, and in 1975 he took the posirion as its leader. With this orchestra he toured the world, and in 1977 he was engaged as the leader of the St Gallen Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his orchestral duties he plays in many ensembles (among them the Swiss Chamber Orchesrra and the Zurich Tonhalle Sextet) and is very much in demand as a soloist and chamber musician. He plays regularly with Rudolf Lutz (piano and organ) in a variety of musical styles. Andrzej Kowalski on Guild Music
