Joanna Marsh, MA, FRCO
Joanna Marsh has been Organist and Assistant Master of Music at Christs Hospital
since September 1997. Educated at Kingswood School, Bath, Joanna studied the organ with
Marcus Sealy and David Sanger. She then continued her studies with David Sanger, together
with choral directing under Patrick Russell, at the Royal Academy of Music, where she won
the Henry Richards Organ prize adjudicated by Lady Susi Jeans. Whilst in London she
became organ scholar at St Albans Church, Holborn.
Joanna took up the organ scholarship at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in 1989. From
September 1992 until July 1994, she was Resident Organist at Cranleigh School and then
moved to York to be School Organist at St Peters School. At Christs Hospital
she runs several choirs, both in and out of School, and specialises in organising and
directing "organ" and "singing" days which attract large numbers of
both experienced musicians and beginners. Joanna has tutored for the International Organ
Festival at Oundle.
As an organ recitalist, Joanna performs regularly here and abroad with a tour of the USA
planned for Easter 2000.
At Christs Hospital Joanna enjoys the benefits of four
splendid pipe organs and a bevy of keen young organ pupils.
