Niamh Molloy - Cello

Niamh Molloy is currently studying at the Royal College of Music in London, under renowned cellist Melissa Phelps. A first class honours graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2003, Niamh is a multiple Feis Ceoil prizewinner, she was awarded the Most Promising Young Musician Prize at the 2002 West Belfast Bursary and most recently, she completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from the Royal College of Music with distinction. Niamh has given solo performances in many of Dublin’s prestigious venues including the National Concert Hall, the National Gallery, the Goethe Institute and the Helix. She has performed concertos with the RIAM Symphony Orchestra, the RIAM Chamber Orchestra and the Wexford Sinfonia and most recently performed Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto no.1 with the Hibernian Orchestra in November 2004. An active chamber musician, Niamh is a member of the Kerem String Quartet, with whom she performs regularly in many of London’s concert venues.  Niamh is also a member of the highly acclaimed European Union Youth Orchestra, with whom she has toured extensively under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy and Bernhard Haitink.
