Olivia Vermeulen, mezzo-soprano – Gertrude


Born in the Netherlands in 1978, Olivia Vermeulen started her vocal training in 1997 with Caren van Oijen in Arnhem. She studied singing with Mechtild Böhme at the Music Academy Detmold and with Julie Kaufmann at the UdK in Berlin. She received a scholarship for a master course with Andreas Scholl and participated in courses by Thomas Quasthoff, René Jacobs and Juliane Banse. Concerts led her to England, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Since 2002 she has been engaged several times as a guest at the Stadttheater Bielefeld and the Sommertheater Detmold. Among her stage roles are Ramiro in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera and Penelope in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse (to be heard in co-operation with the Komische Oper Berlin).
