Allan WicksIn 1942, when Allan Wicks had completed a year as Organ Scholar at Christ Church at Oxford University, he was recruited into the army, returning to Oxford and Christ Church in 1946. On leaving Oxford in 1947 he was appointed Assistant Organist of York Minster In 1953 he was appointed as Organist and Master of the Choristers at Manchester Cathedral, and there completed the design of the new organ which was being built and installed after war-damage to the Cathedral.
