Huw Williams - Organ
Born in 1971 in Swansea, South Wales, Huw became Organ Scholar at Christ's College, Cambridge and graduated with a Music Degree in June 1992. He later studied at the Royal Academy of Music where he gained a MMus and a Diploma in Advanced Studies. He studied in Holland with Piet Kee and was awarded scholarships by the Countess of Munster Musical and Ian Fleming Charitable trusts. In 1995 he was appointed Assistant Organist to Roy Massey at Hereford Cathedral, where he made several recordings and broadcasts with the Cathedral Choir. At Hereford he was closely involved with the famous Three Choirs Festival, the Hereford Choral Society and was also the conductor of the Hereford Chamber Choir. He has performed as an organ soloist in Canada and USA and many parts of Europe. He was invited to play in the opening series of a new British organ in Peachtree Rd Methodist Church, Atlanta in 2003. Recent recitals include concerts in Canterbury and St George’s Chapel, Windsor, St Thomas Church, New York, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Paris and in various venues in Holland. In addition to giving regular recitals throughout the UK he has adjudicated twice at the National Eisteddfod in Wales. He has also directed the Ludgate Singers on a CD of hymns and composed and arranged pieces, many of which have been performed at St Paul’s. He is closely involved in a national research project The value of cathedral music. He was awarded the Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in recognition of his work at Hereford and St Paul’s Cathedrals. Huw Williams on Guild Music
