See Siang Wong - piano

The pianist See Siang Wong, born in Holland in 1979, has been described by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung as a ‘sensitive and clever painter in sound’.  Since his debut at the age of 12 in a Mozart Piano Concerto accompanied by the Netherlands Radio Orchestra, he has been awarded numerous prizes and his international career has advanced quickly to the point where he is much in demand as a soloist, chamber musician and lieder accompanist.       His concert appearances have seen See Siang Wong established at the leading concert halls in Europe, Russia, Asia and South America. He has appeared regularly as a guest artist at international music festivals in Paris, Bourges, Lucerne, Zurich, Budapest and St Petersburg.  High points of See Siang Wong’s career have been appearances with conductors of the calibre of Pierre Boulez, Ralf Weikert and Howard Griffiths. See Siang Wong’s interest in new music has led to co-operation with important contemporary composers, such as Emmanuel Nunes, Marco Stroppa, James Dillon, Jonathan Harvey and Rudolf Kelterborn.

      See Siang Wong makes numerous radio and television appearances in many countries. He has also recorded several solo and chamber music CDs including solo piano music of Chopin and Debussy for Decca, which have received high praise in the specialist press. See Siang Wong’s Chopin disc was honoured with a Klassik Highlight in the Swiss Radio journal.  

      Since 2002 See Siang Wong has been teaching at the Zurich University of Arts. He is a guest University lecturer at the Lucerne Academy of Music and at the music colleges of Arnheim, Zwolle and Enschede in the Netherlands. He is also an exclusive Steinway & Sons artist.

      See Siang Wong studied in Holland with Marjès Benoist and in Switzerland with Homero Francesch and Bruno Canino. He continued his studies in lieder accompaniment with Irwin Cage, Hans Adolfsen and Daniel Fueter as well as in new music with the composer Felix Baumann.
