Thomas Tallis

Thomas Tallis was admitted as a Lay-Clerk at Canterbury in 1541. Salvator mundi, salva nos is scored for 5-part unaccompanied choir and may well have been written during his time in the Choir.

His music is much better known than many of his contemporaries: he survived into the Elizabethan age and wrote music for the Engish liturgy.

A substantial selection of motets, including the two in GMCD 7108, were published in Cantiones sacrae in 1575.
