Biography of Adolfsen Hans:

He has recently also often given concerts together with the saxophonist Harry White. In two productions by Herbert Wernicke for the Basle Theatre, he played the harpsichord and was the assistant of the conductor Michael Hofstetter .n piano at the Utrecht Conservatory in Holland. Adolfsen works closely with the singing teacher Margreet Honig from Amsterdam. In the many masterclasses in which he participates, he also accompanies the whole operatic repertoire. Adolfsen has released various CD recordings: Brahms songs with Lenneke Ruiten (soprano; Brilliant Classics), songs by Rudolf Escher with Marcel Beekman (tenor) and Roswitha Müller (mezzo-soprano; Ottavo) and Rachmaninoff songs with Elisabeth Ebbink (soprano). Besides his first recordings together with the pianist See Siang Wong, Adolfsen is also planning a CD project for 2011 in collaboration with Hardstudio in Winterthur, entitled ‘Piano improvisations for meditation’. He has also composed two song cycles: ‘Ein umgekehrter Wellenritt’ (‘Riding the wave backwards’, 2002; D. Mayer) and Landgewinnung – nicht ganz 40 Versuche zur Gegenwart (‘Reclaiming the land – not quite 40 essays on the present’, 2009/10; U. Andersen). Hans Adolfsen teaches lied interpretation at the Zurich University for the Arts and also works there as a repetiteur. He is on the board of ‘Freunde des Liedes’ (‘Friends of the Lied’) in Zürich.
