Biography of Cechova Jitka:
Jitka Cechova, born in 1971 in Melnik near Prague, received her musical training with Jan Novotny at the Prague Conservatoire and with Peter Toperczer at the Academy of Fine Arts. She complemented her studies as a student with Eugen Indjic in Paris und Vitali Berzon in Freiburg. After having participated in international competitions in Usti nad Labem, Marianske Lazne and Bratislava her international breakthrough followed on the Edinburgh International Festival. Since then she has performed, amongst others, with the Münchner Symphoniker, the Bamberger Symphoniker and the SWR Symphony Orchestra. She has concentrated on the piano music of Smetana (which she recorded for CD) and is regularly active as a chamber musician - as a member of the Smetana Trio as well as a duo partner to violinist Hana Kotková and cellist Jan Palenicek. She published numerous CD recordings, especially for Supraphon.
