Biography of Wallfisch-York Duo:
The Wallfisch-York Duo, comprising Raphael Wallfisch and John York, dates back about 13 years. The two had played together before then, but only after the death of Raphael’s father (and duo partner), the celebrated pianist Peter Wallfisch, was the Wallfisch-York Duo established permanently. They have since performed at many of the major national and international festivals and have recorded from their medium the complete works of Beethoven (for EMI), among others discs (for Nimbus and Cello Classics). Their repertoire ranges from Bach to the latest work written for them by James MacMillan: their quality and eclecticism – from masterpieces, through arrangements and opera fantasies, to thematically linked programmes - is their trademark.
