Tanner Raphael - Cello

Biography of Tanner Raphael:

Swiss Cellist Raphael Tanner (member of the Aulos Quartett), to whom many modern composers have dedicated some of their works which he interpreted in first performance, studied at the Conservatory of Winterthur under professor Susanne Basler-Novsak and graduated with distinction. He continued his studies in Stockholm with Prof. Ola Karlsson and in London with the famous cellist William Pleeth, also professor of the late Jacqueline Du Pré.
As a student he already played as a soloist with the Orchestra of Winterthur. In 1992, after having served for 5 years at the „Orchestre de la Suisse Romande“, he devoted himself to soloist and chamber music activities, thus demonstrating a career that brought him all over Europe and Japan.
He plays with well-known musicians such as Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Yoko Fujita (violin), Ron Ephrat and Hideko Kobayashi (viola), Adrian Oetiker (piano) and Monty Alexander (Jazz-piano). Since 1997 he is a member of the GoldbergTrio and since 2008 of the Aulos-Quartet.
His interpretations are documented in CD and broadcast recordings.
