Biography of Üleoja Mikk:
Mikk Üleoja was born in 1970 and studied choir conducting with Elo Kaarepere and trumpet with Avo Ots) at Tallinn Music High School. In 1997 he graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music as a choir conductor, after having studied with Professor Ants Üleoja. From 1990 – 1993 he continued his studies in singing with Christian Boole in Finland. From 1994 to 1996 he was a member of the Estonian National Male Choir, working simultaneously as a chief conductor of chamber choir "Mattone" in Pämu. In 1995 he was a finalist of the third Estonian young choir conductors' contest. In 1996 Mikk Üleoja joined the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir as a singer. In 1998 Tõnu Kaljuste handed him the position of choirmaster. During 1999/2000 he was guest conductor with the EPCC and conducted the concert series "Vox Septem Sæculi" in Estonia. He himself chose the works for performance and they included music from the past seven centuries, from Gregorian chants to contemporary choir music. Mikk Üleoja is a member of the ensemble „Vox Clamantis", which specialises in Gregorian chants.
