Greene Maurice (1695-1755)

Biography of Greene Maurice:

Maurice Greene was a chorister of St Paul's Cathedral in 1706 and organist from 1718. He was a close friend of Handel and himself a musician of considerable stature and wide interests, combining with his position at St. Paul's the posts of organist and composer to the Chapel Royal, professor of music at Cambridge, and Master of the King's Musick. His manuscript collections of church music formed a foundation for Boyce's three great published volumes of music.
