Kelly Robert (1916-2007)

Biography of Kelly Robert:

Robert Kelly (1916-2007) was born in West Virginia, and was able to pursue music from an early age to the point when in 1946 aged just 30 he was appointed professor of composition at the University of Illinois School of Music, a position he held for thirty years. His music is essentially tonal and based upon classical precepts, as we may hear in this movement – Sunset Reflections – from his Opus 1, the Adirondaks suite for orchestra, a series of nature pieces inspired by the uniquely beautiful northern region of New York State, composed in the late 1930s, the success of which did much to make his name.
