Vecsey Franz von (1893-1935)

Biography of Vecsey Franz von:

The Hungarian violinist, Franz von Vécsey, was a pupil of the legendary Jenö Hubay, and became something of a child virtuoso, appearing in Berlin at the age of ten, and in London a year later. He died, at an early age, in Rome, but he also enjoyed success as a composer of finely-wrought pieces for the violin, of a certain melancholy cast, including this beautiful Valse Triste, a whimsical miniature in C minor, with a most impressive violin line. We must hope that more of von Vécsey's pieces will not be forgotten, for he was clearly a talented composer.
