Wong See Siang - Piano

Biography of Wong See Siang:

The Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung described the Dutch-born pianist See Siang Wong as a ?subtle painter of sound?. He has been awarded numerous prizes and has quickly advanced to become an internationally sought soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. See Siang Wong studied with Marjès Benoist in Holland and with Homero Francesch and Bruno Canino in Switzerland. Wong made his debut at the mere age of twelve with the Dutch Radio Orchestra. He has since performed in numerous renowned venues in over 30 countries throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East, including Tonhalle Zurich, KKL Lucerne, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, St. Martin in the Fields London, Salle Olivier Messiaen Paris, Bertramka Prague, Marble Hall Budapest and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall. He also makes regular guest appearances at leading international music festivals. Among the highlights of his artistic career have been concerts with top-ranking conductors, including Pierre Boulez, Ralf Weikert and Howard Griffiths. See Siang Wong's performances have been recorded by many radio and television stations. He has made six exclusive albums with music of Chopin, Debussy, Mozart, Schumann, Beethoven and piano concertos of Haydn and Mozart for Decca, which received high praise by the critics. The recordings of Chopin, Mozart and Schumann (Decca) and his recording of Schumann?s Piano Concerto and Beethoven?s Piano Concerto No. 6 (Piano Arrangement of the Violin Concerto) were honored with the ?Swiss Classical Highlight? Award. Other recordings were issued by Deutsche Grammophon, Novalis (Piano Concertos of Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann), Guild (Piano Works of Nunes and Kelterborn), Zhdk Records (Messiaen's Piano Concerto ?Oiseaux Exotiques?), Liverpool Records and Rose. His interest in contemporary music has led to collaborations with leading composers such as Emmanuel Nunes, Marco Stroppa, James Dillon and Rudolf Kelterborn. He initiated the project "Swiss Piano" which promotes the creation of new piano compositions; many famous Swiss contemporary composers have already contributed to this project, amongst others Daniel Fueter, Hans Ulrich Lehmann, Laurent Mettraux, Isabel Mundry, Jürg Wyttenbach, Alfred Zimmerlin and Gérard Zinsstag. See Siang Wong has taught at the Zurich University of the Arts since 2002. From 2006-2008 he was a guest professor at the University of Arts Lucerne. He holds masterclasses in Switzerland and abroad, and is among the exclusive circle of Steinway & Sons Artists. He makes his home in Switzerland today.
