Zolinsky Andrew - Piano

Biography of Zolinsky Andrew:

In September 1998 by a unanimous verdict Andrew won first prize in 'The San Francisco International Piano Concerto Competition' confirming his emergence in recent years as one of the busiest and most imaginative pianists of his generation. Andrew has appeared at many of the major venues and festivals both in the U.K. and abroad. His many appearances at the South Bank Centre in London have included a concert for the Park Lane Group in which he gave the world premiere of "..in real time" pieces 2, 3 and 4 by Alexander Goehr, a concert of the complete piano music of Constant Lambert and most recently a concert sponsored by the Kirckman Society of which Michael Church wrote in the Independent that "recitals are rarely so riveting." In the field of contemporary music Andrew is highly respected and has worked with 'Composers' Ensemble', 'Capricorn' 'lcebreaker' and 'Eos'. He has worked with the leading composers of today including Louis Andriessen, Poul Ruders, John Woolrich, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Edwin Roxburgh, Jonathan Harvey and Alexander Goehr. Andrew has given many broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, including solo piano music by Szymanowski, Couperin, Martinu, and Tchaikovsky. He also gave the first broadcast performance of Gerald Barry's piano quartet. Andrew has also given solo recitals on Classic FM and German Radio. Recent engagements have included a tour of Ireland consisting of a week of solo recitals, concerto performances and masterclasses at the University of Cork and Trinity College Dublin. In August 1997 Andrew performed the Stravinsky Concerto with Sinfonia 21 conducted by Martyn Brabbins as part of the Dartington International Summer School. In October 1997 he gave two recitals in the Norfolk and Norwich Festival which included the complete Nocturnes of John Field. Much in demand as a duo partner, Andrew has worked with many of the country's most distinguished musicians including Hugh Bean, Michael Collins, Madeleine Mitchell, Jane Atkins and Emily Beynon. Future engagements include concerts in the USA a return visit to Cork to give a recital in the Cork Contemporary Festival and recitals in London including a recital for the 'Beethoven Society of Europe'.
