Biography of Apekisheva Katya:
A prize winner at the Leeds and the Scottish Piano Competitions, Katya has appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the London Philharmonic, the Philharmonia, the Hallé, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Jerusalem Symphony and the English Chamber Orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, David Shallon and Alexander Lazarev and has worked with many musicians including Jack Liebeck, Natalie Clein, Janine Jansen, Martin Frost, Nicholas Daniel and Maxim Rysanov. Recent highlights have included concerto performances with the English Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a concerto tour of South Africa. Katya’s Dvorák recording with violinist Jack Liebeck received a Classical Brit Award in May 2010. Katya has also made recordings for BBC Radio 3 and German Radio. Her recording for Quartz Music of Grieg Piano Works received a Gramophone Editor’s and Critics’ Choice. Future plans for Katya include a concerto début in 2010 in Wiesbaden,Germany and 2011 London appearances at King’s Place and Wigmore Hall. Her next solo recording follows at the end of 2010.
