Bradley Sarah-Jane - Viola

Biography of Bradley Sarah-Jane:

“Sarah-Jane Bradley: ardent, affecting soloist” The Daily Telegraph August 2009 - Since making her concerto debut with the Philharmonia in 1992, and as a recitalist at the Wigmore Hall in 1997, Sarah-Jane has established a distinguished international reputation as a soloist and chamber musician. She has premiered and recorded a number of new works for solo viola, including concertos by David Matthews and Paul Patterson. Her acclaimed concerto recordings include four CDs for Dutton Epoch of “British Viola Music” including David Matthews’ “Winter Remembered” with George Vass and Orchestra Nova, Paul Patterson’s Viola Concerto, Arthur Butterworth’s Viola Concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Delius Double Concerto with Philippe Graffin, David Lloyd-Jones and the BBC Concert Orchestra. The latter CD was Editor’s Choice in Classic FM Magazine in November 2009. Her work as a chamber musician has taken her around the world to festivals such as Marlborough and Kuhmo. As a former member of the Leopold String Trio and Sorrel Quartet she has recorded for Hyperion and Chandos. She currently works with the Fidelio Piano Quartet. Sarah-Jane’s latest CD of East European Romantic Works for Viola and Piano with Anthony Hewitt was released on Naxos digital download in June 2010 to coincide with a feature article in the Strad Magazine. A former prizewinner at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, Sarah-Jane is now on the executive committee of the Competition. “Sarah-Jane Bradley is that rare kind of viola player who can make you blush with shame for ever having told a viola joke. In her hands the instrument is passionate, eloquent and wide-ranging in its colours and moods. I would happily put this at the top of any list of recommended recording.” BBC Music Magazine, June 2007 on “British Viola Music” (5* for both performance and sound) 2010.
