Biography of Stibal Jens:
JENS STIBAL was born in Hamelin, Germany, in 1968, and began learning to play the guitar at the age of seven. After completing his schooling, he studied the guitar in Basel under Oscar Ghiglia, and in Montreal under Alvaro Pierri. Jens Stibal has won numerous guitar competitions in Italy, Bulgaria and Switzerland. He has been on concert tours to many countries as a chamber musician and soloist, such as Central America, Russia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland und Austria.
The specialised press praise his artistry in illuminating musical details by means of tone colours, and even compared him to the great Julian Bream in this respect. “His abundance of tone colours and nuances reminded me of an early Julian Bream. A spell binding experience” Classical Guitar, UK Jens Stibal teaches at the Zurich Conservatory, and regularly gives masterclasses. He has already released a CD with the violinist Oliver Kipp (Radiophilharmonie Hanover, Hyperion-Trio) on the Tyrolis Label with works for violin and guitar. On this CD he plays two instruments from the guitar maker Dieter Müller from Biedenkopf in Germany, with a cedar top from 1997, and with a top made of African whitewood from 2001
