Biography of Wyss Gérard:
Gérard Wyss studied with Paul Baumgartner at the Music Academy in Basle, where he then taught lied interpretation and chamber music for graduate soloists until 2009. Gérard Wyss’s preference for playing with chamber music partners turned into a vocation, and already in his youth he was playing for Pierre Fournier and Arthur Grumiaux. Today he is in great demand as an accompanist and chamber musician, performing at venues all over Europe, in Canada, the USA, Brazil and Japan. His song partners have included Edith Mathis, Cecilia Bartoli, Martina
Jankova, Nicolai Gedda, Wolfgang Holzmair and Georg Nigl. Many instrumentalists appreciate his experience and sensitivity in chamber music, among them the cellists Sol Gabetta, Heinrich Schiff and Antonio Meneses and the violinist Raphaël Oleg. Gérard Wyss is a regular guest at the international festivals of Salzburg, Montreux, Stresa, Lucerne, Berlin, Prague, Schleswig-Holstein etc. He has also taken part in numerous radio and CD recordings (for Denon, Novalis, Pan Classics, Philips, Tudor, Avie and Supraphon).
