Biography of Fairhaven Singers:
Under Musical Director Ralph Woodward, the Fairhaven Singers have become one of East Anglia’s foremost chamber choirs. Recent highlights have included a collaboration with Dame Emma
Kirkby and the City of London Sinfonia, Bach’s St John Passion with The Parley of Instruments, and the world premiere of Will Todd’s Requiem for choir, soprano and electric guitar, a work they commissioned. The choir has performed at the Aldeburgh Festival, and at major venues in London such as Southwark Cathedral, St Martin-in-the-Fields and St John’s Smith Square. Recent tours have taken them to Italy, Germany and France. The choir made its BBC Radio 4 debut in 2006, and has since appeared on BBC Radios 2 and 3 and Classic FM. 2007 saw the release of their first CD, The Blue Skies that Sparkle, a collection of choral works celebrating the beauty of nature. Their second CD, Will Todd’s Requiem (2009), was awarded five stars by Choir and Organ magazine, and an 18 certificate by Aled Jones.
