Biography of Schmid Maria C.:
The Swiss soprano Maria C. Schmid studied at the Conservatory in Lucerne. After receiving her teaching diploma
under Professor Barbara Locher, she obtained the concert as well as the soloist diploma with honours as the
student of Professor Peter Brechbühler. In 1994 she was awarded a prize for extraordinary musical performance
by the Conservatory. In 2002 she was presented with the sponsorship award of the Axelle and Max Koch cultural
foundation. In 2005 the Aargau Kuratorium honoured her artistic performance as well as her charisma and her
fresh approach in her musical performances with a Werkbeitrag. In addition to lessons with outstanding European professors of singing such as Margreet Honig, Lena Hauser or Elisabeth Glauser, the répétiteurs and song
accompanists Peter Baur, Hans Adolfsen and Edward Rushton gave and continue to give further important impulses
to her training and advanced training.
Maria C. Schmid has extensive concert experience at home and abroad with the standard repertoire of a lyrical
soprano. With great pleasure she also sings early music pieces or immerses herself into the sounds of the treasury of
romantic songs. She performs concerts in Germany, France, Italy, Austria and the United States.
Numerous concert recordings by various radio stations and CD recordings are a documentation of her work.
