Biography of Männerchor Zürich:
The varied history of the Männerchor Zürich, which was founded in 1826, is closely connected to the institutions
and personalities of its home town. As early as 1883, the choir took part in the celebration on the occasion of the
50th anniversary of the University of Zurich. For a while the choir was conducted by the young Friedrich Hegar.
Promoting the repertoire of the orchestra-accompanied male choir is the choir’s ongoing mission, with works
ranging from Mozart to Strawinsky. They often perform with the Tonhalle-Orchestra Zurich. Under the baton of
Christoph Cajöri the musical horizon of the 70-person choir has continuously expanded.
