Behr Julian - Lute

Biography of Behr Julian:

After initially graduating from the Academy of Music and the Performing Arts of Stuttgart, studying classical guitar and lute with Prof. Dr. Mario Sicca and Robert Barto, Julian Behr completed his post-graduate studies on the instrument with Joachim Held at the Hamburg Conservatoire. He then went on to study Early Music and the family of lute instruments at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basle under Hopkinson Smith. Up until 2011 he taught at the Nürnberg College of Music and since 2013 he has been teaching lute and its family of instruments at the Conservatoire of Music in Bern. There followed appearances at festivals in practically every country of Europe and in South America with, among others, the Belgian ensemble Ausonia, with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, with Al Ayre Espagnol, the Capricornus Consort Basel, Sette Voci, as well as performing with the countertenors Andreas Scholl and Franz Vitzthum and with the tenor David Munderloh. As well as performing as a soloist and chamber musician, Julian Behr also collaborates on productions of Baroque operas.
