Cambridge University Chamber Choir - Choir

Biography of Cambridge University Chamber Choir:

Cambridge University Chamber Choir in its current form was started in 1986 by Timothy Brown. It is re-auditioned every year and draws members from a number of Cambridge colleges. Its chief purpose is to explore the secular and non-liturgical choral repertoire that is often untouched by college chapel choirs. The Chamber Choir works frequently with professional soloists and instrumental ensembles; performances have been undertaken with orchestras such as The Academy of Ancient Music and The King's Consort. In 1993 the choir performed the Bach B Minor Mass with the Steinitz Bach Players in Westminster Abbey as the opening concert of the London Bach Festival. Recent performances have included the Bach St. John Passion with Collegium Musicum 90, Schoenberg Friede auf Erden and Handel Solomon. The Chamber Choir has broadcast on Radio 3 and has made several compact disc recordings. It currently operates under the joint directorship of Timothy Brown and David Lowe.
