Biography of Fredriksen Brandt:

Pianist Brandt Fredriksen enjoys a highly versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, vocal accompanist and teacher. He has performed throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Germany, Hungary, Greece, China and the Caribbean, including prestigious debuts at Weill Recital Hall in New York and the Gasteig Cultural Center in Munich. His impressive list of engagements includes solo appearances at many university concert series throughout the world. An active chamber musician, Mr. Fredriksen has collaborated with members of the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, and the symphony orchestra of Pittsburgh and Toronto, as well as with such diverse artists as Betty Allen, Kevin Maynor, Denes Zsigmondy, Suren Bagratuni, Robert White and Constance Keene. Since 1985, he has been a member of the New World Trio, which concertizes regularly throughout the world. He has been a regular participant at the Muskoka Lakes Music Festival and has performed at the Banff Festival, the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, the new Arts Summer Music Festival and Interlochen’s National Music Camp. In 1993, Mr. Fredriksen, jointly with his wife, Greek pianist Maria Asteriadou, founded the Silver Bay Summer Music Festival. From 1996 to 1997, he served as Assistant professor of Music at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Since 1997, he has been on the piano faculty at the Manhattan School of Music. Highly sought after as a teacher, he has served on the faculties of the Harlem School of the Arts, Thurnauer School of Music in New Jersey, and the International School of Musical Arts in Canada. He has given master classes at universities and conservatories throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, Greece and China. Mr. Fredriksen has recorded a wide variety of repertoire for compact disc, and has been heard frequently on radio and television in the United States, Greece and China, including appearances on National Public Radio, WQXR-FM with Robert Sherman, Greek National Television and Radio, and Beijing TV. A graduate of Indiana University, The Juilliard School and State University of New York at Stony Brook, Mr. Fredriksen received scholarships to study with Nadia Reisenberg, Martin Canin, Gyorgy Sebok, James Tocco, Dr. Charles Fisher and the renowned Hungarian pedagogue Ferenc Rados at the Lizst Academy in Budapest. Brandt Fredriksen currently resides in New York City with his wife and two children
