Pearson Justin - Cello

Biography of Pearson Justin:

Is one of London's busiest and most versatile musicians. He is Principal Cellist of the National Symphony Orchestra, Guest Principal cello of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the English Sinfonia Orchestras; he is currently appearing in the West End in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's latest musical "Whistle Down the Wind". Justin performs frequently with the Michael Nyman Band and is cellist of The English Piano Trio and The Oxford Concert Party. Justin has played chamber music at Downing Street, performed by invitation for Queen Elizabeth II (The Commonwealth Institute) and the Prince and late Princess of Wales (Hampton Court), and recorded - frequently in a solo capacity - on albums with artists as diverse as Jose Carreras, The Spice Girls, Games Galway, Tina Turner, Take That! Shirley Bassey, Pavarotti and U1, to name but a few. Recent engagements has seen Justin performing the cello concerto by Colin Matthews "Two Part Invention" live on BBC Radio 3, giving a series of concerts focusing on the sonatas of Beethoven in Dublin and Blackheath Concert Halls, touring with a flute quartet around Egypt, and performing very many concertos, including the Elgar at St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Justin is currently to be heard playing the solo cello line in the film about the life of Oscar Wilde "Wilde", starring Stephen Fry, and is also the featured soloist on the soundtrack to the world cinematic success, "Female Perversions". Justin contracts orchestras for film and most recently has fixed for the films: "Tom's Midnight Garden", "The Lighthouse" and "From Cradle to Grave". He is a very frequent performer at the South Bank Arts Centre in London and broadcasts on both BBC Radio 3 and Classic fm. Last summer Justin appeared as a concerto soloist at festivals in both Cork and Edinburgh. In addition to recording solo cello albums on disc for the ASV, Naxos and Carlton Classics labels, Justin is also and independent producer of programmes for the BBC Radio 3. He runs his own orchestra and associated choir, the Locrain Ensemble and Chorus of London who perform frequently in London, often for national charities such as Barnardos and the Royal Society of Musicians in addition to providing soundtracks for both film and television, which are featured in both concerts and on disc.
