Biography of Kim Chungsun:
Member of the Trio di Buson - CHUNGSUN KiM (cello) received her BM, MM and DMA from the Juilliard School and has studied with Leonard Rose, Channing Robbins, and Harvey Shapiro. She is a founding member of the Amasi Piano Trio, the resident trio at Nyack College, since 2003, and has been an adjunct faculty member at Nyack College since 1994. In 2000, Ms. Kim was invited as a soloist and faculty member at the New International Music Festival in Korea and this subsequently led to her duo recital in Japan under the sponsorship of Araki Industry Corporation. She was also a former member and a soloist with the Pro-Arte Chamber Orchestra, New York Virtuosi, and the Philharmonia Virtuosi. As an active chamber music player, she joined the Orion Chamber Music Society in 2011 and has been involved with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Balcony Chamber Music in New York. Ms. Kim toured as a chamber musician and orchestra member through Singapore, Germany (under the direction of Leonard Bernstein) and Chile. Ms. Kim has also toured as soloist with the Philharmonia Lawrencia in New England, which included a radio broadcast, and appeared as a guest artist in the Little Orchestra Society’s performance of Vivaldi’s “Venice” at the Lincoln Center. As a winner of the Artist International Debut Presentation Competition, she has also performed at the Carnegie Recital Hall. Ms. Kim has been a featured artist in the Beethoven Music Festival, the Laurentian Summer Music Festival, the Arcady Music Festival, the Summit Music Festival and the Bach festival. Most recently, Ms. Kim and the Amasi Trio from Nyack College were invited to perform at the Academy of Music Summer Festival in 2012. She joined as a member of the Trio di Buson in 2011.
