Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt - Chamber Orchestra

Biography of Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt:

In 1990 the Georgische Kammerorchester, which was founded in 1964 in Tiflis/Georgia, had their first performance in Ingolstadt after having been invited by AUDI AG. The idea of the then chief conductor and world-class violinist Liana Issakadze to settle in Ingolstadt with the orchestra was very much supported by the city. Internationally renowned soloists, such as Gidon Kremer, Lynn Harrell, Igor Oistrach, Mstislav Rostropowitsch, Rudolf Buchbinder, Christian Zacharias, Barbara Hendricks and Sergei Nakariakov have worked with the orchestra and guest conductors, such as Lord Yehudi Menuhin or Kurt Masur contributed to its musical development. The Georgische Kammerorchester Ingolstadt is a cultural ambassador of our city and a constant guest at the most important European music festivals, such as the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Kissinger Sommer, the Prague Spring or the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. For many years the orchestra has been part of the Sommerkonzerte zwischen Donau und Altmühl, a concert series of AUDI AG and the Bayerische Rundfunk. The unique versatility of the individual musicians of the Georgische Kammerorchester Ingolstadt, but also of the whole ensemble are in the foreground of its own subscription concert series. Mayr Mass: Since its foundation in 1964 this chamber orchestra has regularly concertized world wide in the most important concert halls, including Carnegie Hall (New York), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), the Tchaikovsky Hall (Moscow), the Gewandhaus (Leipzig), the Musikverein (Vienna) or the Philharmonie (Munich). Concert tours brought the ensemble to Singapore, Brazil, Australia, and the most important musical centres of Europe. Renowned music festivals have also been among the venues of the orchestra, which has claimed Ingolstadt as its home since 1990. The city of Ingolstadt and the AUDI AG have lent considerable support to the orchestra’s settling in this town. World wide the reputation of the orchestra is strengthened by the number of concerts with internationally renowned soloists such as Rudolf Buchbinder, Reinhold Friedrich, Natalia Gutman, Lynn Harrell, Gidon Kremer, Igor Oistrach, Vadim Repin, Mstislav Rostropowitsch or Christian Zacharias. Guest conductors such as Kurt Masur or Lord Yehudi Menuhin have also shaped the musical development of the chamber orchestra substantially.
