Biography of Gough Rupert:

Rupert Gough was appointed Assistant Organist of Wells Cathedral in 1994 where he accompanies and assists in directing the nine sung services every week. He appears regularly with the choir in concerts all over the world, on the radio and on many recordings. His cathedral duties are combined with teaching and concert work, and he is the Organ Tutor at Wells Cathedral School. In 1997 he was a finalist in the Royal College of Organists "Performer of the Year" competition, and his first solo recording Popular Organ Music from Wells was selected as Classic FM Magazine’s Critic’s Choice. Rupert gained a Master’s Degree with distinction from the University of East Anglia, researching the music of Jonathan Harvey, and has maintained a keen interest in contemporary music. He has worked closely with a number of composers, most recently commissioning and giving the première of a work by Gabriel Jackson.
